Family History Month Events - Wonderful!

I just received my "Genealogy Gems" newsletter from the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana (do you receive it? You can sign up at http://www.genealogycenter.info/). Then I saw the post from the Indiana Genealogical Blog highlighting "Allen County Celebrates Family History Month."

Look at that program - there is something planned for every day except Sunday, October 7th (frankly, I'm wondering if they made a mistake and left it out!).

That sure is a researcher's dream, isn't it? I've often said that if I didn't live in the San Diego area due to family ties, that I would like to live in either New England (family ties, history, research) or in Salt Lake City (for the FHL, of course). I think the Fort Wayne area just leaped onto my short list!

What other cities or genealogy societies have a list of events to celebrate Family History Month? Most of the ones I've heard about are special presentations, day-long seminars or weekend conferences.

Last year, the Chula Vista Genealogical Society (CVGS) held a one-day seminar on "Discover Your Family History" - I reported on it here. This was our first attempt to co-sponsor an event something with the Chula Vista Public Library (CVPL), and it worked out fairly well.

This year, CVGS and CVPL is presenting a one-day seminar on "Discover Your Family History Online." This will be four presentations related to online genealogy research - the announcement of it is here.
