RootsTech 2013 - Live-Streamed Sessions (Updated)

RootsTech 2013 in Salt Lake City is March 21st to 23rd, so we're less than three weeks away from it.

While the live-streamed sessions have not been positively identified, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that they will all be shown from Hall 1 (because that is where the Keynotes will be, and the live-streamed sessions were shown from Hall 1 the past two years).

Here is the Hall 1 schedule (from the overall schedule list at http://www.rootstech.org/schedule/sessions):

Thursday, 21 March (time is Mountain Daylight Time, GMT -7 hours):

*  8:30 a.m.:  Keynote - Dennis C. Brimhall (FamilySearch), Syd Lieberman (author, storyteller), and D. Joshua Taylor (brightsolid).
*  11 a.m.:  The Future of Genealogy, a panel with Lisa Louise Cooke and Thomas MacEntee
*  1:45 p.m.:  Tell It Again, presentation by Kim Weitkamp.
*  3:00 p.m.:  The Genealogist's Gadget Bag; International Panel, with Jill Ball, Marie Dougan, A.C. Ivory
*  4:15 p.m.:  Finding the Obscure and Elusive: Geographic Information on the Web, presentation by James L. Tanner

Friday, 22 March (time is Mountain Daylight Time, GMT -7 hours):

*  8:30 a.m.:  Keynote - Jyl Pattee (Mom It Forward Media) and Tim Sullivan (Ancestry.com)
*  9:45 a.m.:  Researching Ancestors Online for Beginners, presentation by Laura G. Prescott
*  11:00 a.m.:  FamilySearch Family Tree: Documenting the World's genealogy, presentation by Ron Tanner
*  1:45 p.m.:  Google Search ... and Beyond, presentation by David Barney and Robert Gardner
*  3:00 p.m.:  From Paper Files to Digital Files: Technology for the Organized Genealogist, presentation by Valerie Elkins

Saturday, 23 March (time is Mountain Daylight Time, GMT -7 hours):

*  8:30 a.m.:  Keynote - David Pogue (New York Times), Gilad Japhet (MyHeritage)
*  9:45 a.m.:  Using Technology Effectively to Solve Research Problems, presentation by Karen Clifford
*  11:00 a.m.:  Digital Storytelling: Beyond Bullet Points, presentation by Denise Barrett Olson

The three Keynote speakers were announced over a month ago - Dennis C. Brimhall, Syd Lieberman, and D. Joshua Taylor.  I don't know who will go on which day - my guess is that Brimhall will be on the 21st, Lieberman on the 22nd, and Taylor on the 23rd.

If you are at home, you can watch the live-streamed sessions on your computer for FREE.  Make sure to note the times (and convert them to your own time zone) for the sessions you want to watch, and virtually enjoy two and a half days, 13 sessions, of a genealogy conference.  It's not as good as being there, because you can't walk around the Exhibit Hall, see the geneabloggers in their cage, and drink/eat/commune  network with other genealogists.  But it's all good!

In case I am completely wrong about these live-streamed presentations, I will update this post when "official" word is released.

Disclosure:  I am an Official blogger for RootsTech 2013, and have received a complimentary registration for the conference.  This does not influence my objective views of the conference or the sponsors.  I look forward, I'm excited, about attending RootsTech 2013!

I saw the same thing about keynote speakers so I was confused by this announcement on the RootsTech Facebook page:
"Announcement #2 of 3 for today!
Friday's Keynote Speakers are:
JYL PATTEE
Jyl is the founder of Mom It Forward Media, a digital agency and network of social media influencers.

TIM SULLIVAN
Tim is the president and CEO of Ancestry.com."

If you go into the RootsTech 2013 app you can see the names for all the keynote speakers as of today. It shows Brimhall, Taylor, and Syd L. as for Thursday all together and groups of 2 or three for each morning.

Thanks, Michael, I don't have the App downloaded yet, and don't see the Saturday keynoters on Facebook or the RootsTech site. They don't have any press after like 5 February. Someone's falling down on the media stuff!

I agree that it's been confusing, Randy. I don't have a problem with information being released first on the app, but the website is lagging woefully behind - there is virtually no information about exhibitors. Not everyone has a mobile device, and it's not easy to read the information or view plans on a smartphone with a small screen, so ideally you want a tablet.
