AmericanAncestors.org is the website of the New England Historic Genealogical Society (NEHGS), located in Boaston, Massachusetts. Their emphasis is New England and New York. There is a large collection of searchable databases behind their subscription wall, but there are some FREE searchable databases.

Thanks Randy. I was not aware of this. I subscribed to this website for several years, but unfortunately found it wasn't useful and let my subscription lapse. I have many many ancestors from New England both on my side and my husbands. However, it seemed that after the first few things I found, there weren't any more. I desperately need records from New York, but they are very hard to find if they are outside of New York City. There are many more records needed from that area so I will try this guest registration.
