Best of the Genea-Blogs - 10 to 16 April 2016

Hundreds of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  My No. 1 Favorite Genealogy Resource by Diane Haddad on the Genealogy Insider blog.  Yerp, they're near the top of my list too.

*  25 Favorite Free Genealogy Websites by Jake Fletcher on the Travelogues of a Genealogist blog.  Jake shares his list.

*  More Unanswered Questions about Genealogy and the World in General by James Tanner on the Genealogy's Star blog.  James still has questions and few answers.

*  The Lady Vanishes by Rhonda McClure on the Vita Brevis blog.  Rhonda reviews the assertions and finds evidence that resolves the death date of Martha Babcock (Greene) Amory.

*  Conferences and Genealogy Shows What's the Difference? by Hilary Gadsby on the Worldwide Genealogy ~ A Genealogical Collaboration blog.  Hilary discusses her GOONS conference and WDYTYA? Live show experiences.

*  Join the April 2016 Genealogy Blog Party! by Elizabeth O'Neal on the Little Bytes of Life blog.  There's a party?  I'm in.

*  Who Do You Think You Are? Live 2016 by Debbie Kennett on the Cruwys News blog.  Debbie describes the DNA highlights from this UYK Conference.

*  Using Available Homestead Records on Ancestry by Nick Brown on the Home Scribe History blog.  Nick describes more about the available online homestead records.

*  A Home for Mary by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry blog.  Jacqi finds the adoptive parents of a daughter of Peachy Wilson.

*  My New Journey with MyHeritage, PLUS a new webinar on their new Book Matching by Geoff Rasmussen on the Legacy News blog.  Geoff discovers Record Matches, smart Matches and Book Matches on MyHeritage.

*  8 Weeks to Better Rhode Island Genealogy Research Week 3 – Probate and Cemeteries by Diane Boumenot on the One Rhode Island Family blog.  Diane sorted out Ancestry's crappy volume naming (no town names!) for probate records.  A magnificent job!

*  Confirming the Names of Great Grandfather José Robledo’s Parents by Colleen Greene on the Colleen & Jeff's Roots blog.  Colleen provides an excellent example of analyzing evidence in this post.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 1590 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
