Saturday Activities at Jamboree - 10 June 2017

This was the second day of the SCGS Genealogy Jsmboree 2017.  We were up bright and early at 6:30 a.m., and headed down for breakfast at 7:30.  We talked to the Castros in the lounge about our plans for the day.

I wanted to hear Michael Strauss at 8:30 a.m. on "Descendancy Research" and it was an excellent presentation.  After that, I headed for the Exhibit Hall and picked out the door prize I won on Friday night.  I picked a 23andMe bag with a t-shirt and two children's books about DNA and genes.  I also had good discussions with a number of the exhibitors, tried to fill up my passport card, and took some photos.

At 11 a.m., I had lunch thinking I would go hear Shsnnon Christmas taslk about GEDMatch at 11:30 a.m.  The room was full by the time I got there.  I went to the room and read email and blogs instead, and rested my eyes.

I was out the door at 1 p.m. and found Linda and the Manesses and they had lunch.  I left after awhile and went back to the Exhibit Hall for more photos, and then went to hear Drew Smtih at 2 p.m. on "Your Ancestor's FAN Club: Using Cluster Research."  It was another excellent presentation.

At 3:30 p.m. it was time for Michael Lacopo's talk on "'She Came From Nowhere...' A Case Study Aproach to a Complex Genealogical Problem."  It was, and I missed some details I guess, probably because I nodded off several times.

I headed back to the room  at 4:45 p.m. and read on the computer while Linda took a nap.  At 6 p.m. we met Mark and Steve and headed for dinner at Lancers.  We had a great conversation about baseball and software and genealogy, and we were back to our room by 8:30 p.m.

So I went to 3 presentations today and 2 yesterday, out of 11 total.  I will try for 2 out of 4 on Sunday.

We go home tomorrow night.  I'm not sure if I will have a report on Sunday night - we'll see!

Some photos from the Exhibit Hall today:

1)  Bruce Buzbee helping customers at the RootsMagic exhibit:

2)  Kathy Meade at the ArkivDigital exhibit.  I got a neat Norway map from her:

3)  Anna Fechter at the Ancestry.com exhibit:

4)  Rick Cree at the Internet Genealogy magazine exhibit:

6)  Lisa Louise Cooke had a full house in her mini-theater:

I have more photos - I'll put them in another post on Sunday.
