Seavers in the News -- Mrs. Mary Seaver Dies in Watertown, N.Y. in 1908

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a semi-regular feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Watertown [N.Y.] Re-union newspaper dated Saturday, 28 March 1908:

The transcription of this article is:

"Mrs. Mary Seaver

"Mrs. Mary Seaver, wife of Richard F. Seaver, died at 6:30 Wednesday evening at the family home, 323 Rutland street, aged 69 years.  Mrs. Seaver had been a resident of Watertown for 55 years, was possessed of a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and was held in high esteem by all who knew her.  She was a member of Trinity Episcopal church.

"Besides her husband she is survived by five sons, William H., Richard F., Jr., Frank B. and Allan D., of this city, and Dr. G.H. Seaver of Turin, and one daughter, Mrs. Robert E. Dyer, of this city."

Mary (O'Brien) Seaver (1837-1908) married Richard F. Seaver (1832-1918), in about 1853, and they had 7 known children:

*  William H. Seaver (1855-1938), who married Mary J. Parker (1857-1919).
*  Richard F. Seaver (1857-1911), who married Clara J. McOmber (1861-1915).
*  Edward E. Seaver (1859-1882), who married Sarah E. Heintzelman (1863-1934)
*  George H. Seaver (1861-1945), who married Carrie May Campbell (1867-1957).
*  Frank B. Seaver (1864-1937), who married Minnie Morrison (1867-1934).
*  Helen M. Seaver (1870-????), who married Robert E. Dyer (1862-1937).
*  Daniel A. Seaver (1876-1918), who married Emma M. LaLonde (1882-1909) and Adeline Emily Downey (1891-1978).

Allan D. in the obituary is certainly Daniel A. in my database. Dr. G.H. in the obituary is certainly George H. in my database.  

Richard F. Seaver (1832-1918) is  my 4th cousin 4 times removed.  His line goes back to our common ancestors Shubael Seaver (1640-1730) and Hannah Wilson (1647-1722).
