My roots are from England and being new to all things genealogical and citations in general I find the whole thing rather confusing. For example I have many references in my searchings to Birth, Christening, Marriage and Death information listed in Indexes. I have no idea how to record these and so far have just made it up as i go along. this is difficult as I can never seem to remember how I did it the first time so locating it and duplicating it becomes a nightmare.
I am beginning to think that all this source thing is just too complicated to bother with.Rosellainozhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05898863129555528426noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26204193.post-20729967011355591592016-01-18T13:36:41.202-08:002016-01-18T13:36:41.202-08:00Okay, Gr8NW, you caught me! I did notice that but didn't want to confuse readers.

The standard for the Footnote is to use the first name - last name convention, and for the Bibliography is to use the last name - first name convention. Because there were two authors, it used the last name of the second author in the Bibliography. The standard for two authors is to use last name of the first author, first name of the first author and then the first name-last name of the second author. So it really should read "Bartlett, J. Gardner and Edward Dean Adams."

Good catch! glad someone read it through with a critical eye.

Randy Seaverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17477703429102065294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26204193.post-60789481722517748832016-01-18T13:14:41.849-08:002016-01-18T13:14:41.849-08:00Overall, this looks very useful, but I notice that...Overall, this looks very useful, but I notice that the author names in the footnote and bibliography formats seem garbled. Not much has changed in Sources between 6 and 7.

What changed is a lot of folks want to move from Family Tree Maker (support will be discontinued at the end of 2016) to RootsMagic and were curious about how to do source citations, since it's different (and better IMHO), hence the series.
