My moth...I think that my middle name was a mistake. My mother told me that my father’s mother’s parents were Neil McCallum and Jane Isabella Anderson. This couple did exist and were about the right age. I could find quite a few records about them. They lived in Toronto and he was a dealer in oils, whether heating, lubricating, or both I’m not sure. Then I found my grandparents’ marriage record in Ontario. Her parents were Duncan McCallum and Flora McCallum. Then who were Neil and Jane? I finally realized that Neil was my grandmother’s oldest brother in a large family. Since my parents were living in northern Wisconsin Neil and Jane may have come down to visit and my mother met them then.
When I told my sister about this she said, “I hope my great grandchildren remember me better than we remember her. I said I was sure they would because she already had several great grandchildren. Just to be sure I put together a book of pictures of her when she was small doing things they would relate to. I titled it “When Great-grandma Was Little.”
Interestingly my first name (Alison) is a family name going back many generations in my husband’s family. I sometimes say that I married him because he could spell my name and didn’t try to put any extra letters in it.
Dandelionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13314680366367058162noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-26204193.post-3598643973785265772013-03-09T15:53:41.479-08:002013-03-09T15:53:41.479-08:00Randy, Here's the link to my Fearless Females ...Randy, Here's the link to my Fearless Females post ~ http://janasgenealogyandfamilyhistory.blogspot.com/2013/03/fearless-females-march-9-hilda.html

Thanks,

JanaJana Iverson Lasthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07687969613629975601noreply@blogger.com
