Best of the Genea-Blogs - 15 to 21 February 2015

Hundreds of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  How Are Large Genealogical Company Relationships Evolving? by James Tanner on the Genealogy's Star blog.  James analyzes the current scene.

*  *  A Lesson in Family History at the FGS Conference by Diane Boumenot on the One Rhode Island Family blog.  Diane got a lot of work done at the Family History Library last week.  Then there was the cousin connection.  Wow!

*  Genealogy Conferences as Group Therapy  by Amy Johnson Crow on the No Story Too Small blog.  I think Amy's right!

*  The Benefits of Blogging by Jana Last on Jana's Genealogy and Family History Blog.  Jana nails it.

*  Full Access to MyHeritage – Premium Plus Family Site & Data Plan – Just $99.95! by Leland Meitzler on the GenealogyBlog.  This is a great offer - sign up by 24 February.

*  Genealogy Factoids - What Are They and Are They Worth Saving? (February 17, 2015) by John D. Tew on the Filiopietism Prism blog.  John thinks that geneablogger family memories are worth saving.

*  Copyright and the Genealogy Lecture by Judy G. Russell on The Legal Genealogist blog.  Judy reviews the copyright rules for conference and seminar goers.

*  It Takes Two by Michael Lacopo on the Hoosier Daddy? blog.  Michael has recovered from his illness, and presents information about his nely found grandfather.

*  Sneak Peek of the New Ancestry Website coming by Dan Lawyer on the Ancestry.com Blog.  A significant change to Ancestry's look and feel is coming.

*  Future-Proofing Your Family History by Denise Olson on the Moultrie Creek Gazette blog.  Denise suggests ways to do this.

*  How Do I Cite a Name? by Elizabeth Shown Mills on the Evidence Explained QuickTips blog.  Elizabeth shows us the right way.

*  Finding Charlotte by Marian Pierre-Louis on Marian's Roots and Rambles blog.  Marian solved another research problem with help from a cousin and a historical society.

*  Ethics, Genealogists, and Conferences by Pauleen Cass on the Family History Across the Seas blog.  Pauleen discusses the issues, focusing on Judy Russell's RootsTech talk.

*  An Open Letter to the Genealogy Community by Janet Hovorka on The Chart Chick blog.  Janet discusses overheard comments at RootsTech.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  GAGs - GeniAus Gems - 20 February 2015 by Jill Ball on the GeniAus blog.

*  Recommended Reads by Linda Stufflebean on the Empty Branches on the Family Tree blog.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 1550 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
