Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Male Ancestors Age at Death

Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -
time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Here is your assignment if you choose to play along (cue the Mission Impossible music, please!):

1) Review your Pedigree Chart (either on paper or in your genealogy management software program) and determine the age at death of your Male ancestors back at least five generations (and more if you want to).

2)  Tell us the lifespan years for each of these ancestors.  Which of your male ancestors in this group lived the longest?  Which lived the shortest?

3)  Share your results in your own blog post, in a comment to this post, or on Facebook or Google+.

Here's mine (I'm going to use ahnentafel numbers here):

FATHER:

2.  Frederick Walton Seaver (1911-1983) - 72 years

GRANDFATHERS:

4.  Frederick Walton Seaver (1876-1942) - 66 years
6.  Lyle Lawrence Carringer (1891-1976) - 85 years

GREAT-GRANDFATHERS:

8.  Frank Walton Seaver (1852-1922) - 70 years
10.  Thomas Richmond (1748-1917) - 69 years
12.  Henry Austin Carringer (1853-1946) - 93 years
14.  Charles Auble (1849-1916) - 67 years

2nd GREAT-GRANDFATHERS:

16.  Isaac Seaver (1823-1901) - 78 years
18.  Edward Hildreth (1831-1899) - 68 years
20.  James Richman (1821-1912) - 89 years
22.  Henry Arnold White (1824-1885) - 61 years
24.  David Jackson Carringer (1828-1902) - 74 years
26.  Devier James Smith (1839-1894) - 55 years
28.  David Auble (1817-1894) - 77 years
30.  James Abraham Kemp (1831-1902) - 71 years

3rd GREAT-GRANDFATHERS:

32.  Benjamin Seaver (1791-1825) - 34 years
34.  Alpheus B. Smith (1802-1840) - 38 years
36.  Zachariah Hildreth (1783-1857) - 74 years
38.  Thomas J. Newton (ca 1795 - ca 1840??) - ca 45 years
40.  John Richman (1788-1867) - 79 years
42.  John Rich (1790-1868) - 78 years
44.  Jonathan White (1805-1850) - 45 years
46.  Jonathan Oatley (1790-1872) - 82 years
48.  Henry Carringer (1800-1879) - 79 years
50.  Daniel Spangler (1781-1851) - 70 years
52.  unknown
54.  Samuel Vaux (1816-1880) - 64 years
56.  John Auble (1780-1831) - 51 years
58.  William Knapp (1775-1856) - 81 years
60.  Abraham Kemp (1795- ca 1861) - ca 66 years
62.  Alexander Sovereen (1814-1907) - 93 years

So in those five generations, the longest lived was probably Alexander Sovereen (1814-1907) of Norfolk County, Ontario, at 93 years.  The shortest lived was Benjamin Seaver (1791-1825) of Massachusetts, at 34 years.

The average for these 30 males is about 68.5 years.  The generation averages and age ranges are:

*  Generation 1 (father) - 72 years
*  Generation 2 (grandfathers) - 75 years (range 66 to 85)
*  Generation 3 (great-grandfathers) - 75 years (range 67 to 93)
*  Generation 4 (2nd great-grandfathers) - 72 years (range 55 to 89)
*  Generation 5 (3rd great-grandfathers) - 65 years (range 34 to 93)

This was not much different from the females in the five generations we did last week.

As a male aged 72 at present, it appears that I have exceeded the five-generation average already.   I am older now than my father was at death.  Just lucky, I think.  Only 13 of these 30 male ancestors lived longer than I have.  I feel mortal when I do these types of analyses.

Here is mine. Now I am quite intrigued about the cause of death for a male ancestor who was only 46. Time to look it up!

Here is mine. My male ancestors did not live as long as my female. Not a surprise there. http://mytrailsintothepast.blogspot.com/2016/08/saturday-night-genealogy-fun-male.html

I visited everyone's page and read their posts and left comments. I didn't want to not comment on Shirley Ann's post above too. I wonder if you (Shirley Ann) are related to the Reverend Rankin that was an abolitionist in Southern Ohio? I have been wanted to visit his historical home which is an hour away from where I live. He lived on the Ohio side of the Ohio river and hid the slaves as they crossed the river on the Underground RailRoad. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Rankin_House_(Ripley,_Ohio)

Randy, it is interesting that so many of your ancestors lived into their 70's and 80's at a time when "every one died young". I have the same phenomenon.

Here's my post. Longest lived was 93. Shortest was 33 and died from consumption.

Coming in a little late, but I had to do this exercise so I would have both my female and male ancestors:
