Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Recall a Summer Day When You Were 12

It's Saturday Night -
time for more Genealogy Fun!

Your mission, should you decide to accept it (cue the Mission Impossible! music) is to:

1) Remember when you were 12 years old? On a summer day out of school? What memory do you have of fun activities?

2) Tell us about that memory (just one - you can do more if you want to) in a blog post, in a comment to this post, or in a comment on Facebook.  Please leave a link to your own post in comments on this post.

3)  Have you told your children and grandchildren about your childhood memories?  You really should.
Here's mine:

Being a 12-year old in San Diego in summer time in the mid-1950's was just about perfect. The sky is blue, the temperature is about 75 F, I don't need summer school, the Padres are on the radio every night, the B-36 bombers are flying into Lindbergh Field right over my home, all is right with the world.

At least once a week, I jump on my bicycle, and pedal over to the Morley Field swimming pool in Balboa Park (about two miles) with my buddies (Butch, Gordon, Bob, Steve, brother Stan, Kert, probably others). It costs like 15 cents to get in. We spend the whole day having water fights, jumping off the high board, playing tag (Marco Polo was not invented then), and then laying out and getting sunburned. Girls? We don't need no girls - not yet, at least! Now, when I was 15... oops, digressed, but a nice thought!

On the way back home we stop at the drug store at the corner of 30th and Juniper Streets and buy some baseball cards with the pink (cardboard tasting) bubble gum. When we get home, we're famished and Mom has a snack ready for us - strawberries and raspberries and grapes.

Then we trade baseball cards.  Rocky Colavito, Luke Easter, Herb Score (former Padres players!).  I had a great collection.  I wonder  what happened to it?

I've paid a high price for the sunburns of course - I have spots on my head and face and arms that are pre-cancerous and probably a direct result of these swimming pool days and the beach days that came later in my life.

Now - do I dare write about being 15 years old, or 18 years old, or 21 years old?  Maybe I'll try 10 first.  Or more 12 year-old experiences, cause there were lots more at every age!

I'm a day late giving the link, but here is mine:https://emptybranchesonthefamilytree.com/2018/05/saturday-night-genealogy-fun-summer-memories-at-age-12/
My summers in Maine were the same year to year, from age 3 to 16.
