Best of the Genea-Blogs - 4 to 10 August 2019

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

23andMe Now connects to the FamilySearch World Tree by Kitty Cooper on Kitty Cooper's Blog.

*  The Chromosome Browser: A Tool for Visualizing Segment Data by Nicole Dyer on Family Locket.

A Modest Proposal by Judy G. Russell on The Legal Genealogist.

*  Create a Custom County Lines map or ZIP Code-based Sales/Service/Delivery Territory map on the fly -- overlaid on Google Maps by Randy Majors on www.RandyMajors.com.

*  Cousin Bait Leads to Discovery of Another Family History Book by Marian B. Wood on Climbing My Family Tree.

*  An Anglophone's Tips for Searching Ancestry's The Drouin Collection: Quebec Vital & Church Records by Ken  McKinlay on Family Tree Knots.

*  First Steps When Your DNA Results are Ready – Sticking Your Toe in the Genealogy Water by Roberta Estes on DNAeXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

Using Mirror Trees for Unknown DNA Matches by Diahan Southard on Your DNA Guide.

The Archive Lady:  Masonic Records in the Archives by Melissa Barker on Abundant Genealogy.

How Accurate is Ancestry? by Janine Adams on Organize Your Family History.

Make Your Digital Documents Searchable by DiAnn Iamarino on  Fortify Your Family Tree.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- August 10, 2019  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte,

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and    read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

You posted the link to Janine Adams post twice, which means there is no link DiAnn Iamarino post.

Thanks, Ron, I fixed it. The highly compensated but absent-minded editor took a nap I fear.
