Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 13 to 19 September 2020

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

*  24 Tips to Search Ancestry Records With Great Results by Margaret O'Brien on Data Mining DNA.

*  Auto-checking of all Location Facts in Ancestry Family Trees Now Available  by Randy Majors on RandyMajors.com.

Immigrant Society Records and Genealogy by Kathleen Brandt on a3Genealogy.

*  Finding English Birth Roots: A DNA Testing Story by Sunny Morton on Your DNA Guide.

*  My Grandmothers Taught Me to Have Fun! by Melissa Barker on A Genealogist in the Archives.

*  My Great-Grandfather was involved in a shipwreck! by Wayne Shepheard on Discover Genealogy

Genealogy Research in New England During the Pandemic: What’s Open? How is the Records Access? by Heather Wilikinson Rojo on Nutfield Genealogy.

The Archives Lady: Preserving Photo Negatives by Melissa Barker on Genealogy Bargains.

Newspapers and Their Images by Judy G. Russell on The Legal Genealogist.

*  Why Census Directions Are Really Important! by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

Review: Planning a Future For Your Family's Past by Elizabeth O'Neal on Heart of the Family.

*  Researching African American Ancestors in Government Documents Part 3 : WPA Projects and Slave Narratives by Diana Elder on Family Locket.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Friday Fossicking, 18th Sept 2020 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- September 19, 2020  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte,

Saturday Serendipity (September 19, 2020) by John D. Tew on Filiopietism Prism.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thank you for this week's inclusion. I am really happy the census taker did follow directions as it is the only census in which Elizabeth appears by name.

Thanks for including my blog post on New England archives and libraries and their access during the pandemic. It's been very popular this week!
