Best of the Genea-Blogs - 11 to 17 October 2020

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Comparing Ethnicity Estimates Across Companies by Kitty Cooper on Kitty Cooper's Blog.

*  The Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How of Using DNA Segment Data by Robin Wirthlin on Family Locket.

23andMe Surprise Purge of DNA Matches - How It Impacts You by Margaret O'Brien on Data Mining DNA.

* Brandina's Divorce (Part 2) by John Boeren on Antecedentia.

*  MyHeritage Releases Major Collection of Historical Norway Church Records, 1815–1938 by Talya on MyHeritage Blog.

A Genealogy Record Actually Got Cheaper by Marian B. Wood on Climbing My Family Tree.

If You Don't Ask, The Answer Is No by Janice M. Sellers on Ancestral Discoveries.

DNA Test Connects Kin -- and Kindred Spirits by Sunny Morton on Your DNA Guide.

Bachelors in Braintree and The Last Years of Pastor Wibird by J.L. Bell on Boston 1775.

Make Your Genealogy Documents Speak Volumes by DiAnn Iamarino on Fortify Your Family Tree.

Learning by Osmosis by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

I Just Might Get More Genealogy Time With the Ancestry App by Ellen Thompson-Jennings on Hound on the Hunt.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Friday's Family History Finds  by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

Friday Fossicking, 16th Oct 2020 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- October 17, 2020  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte,

Saturday Serendipity (October 17, 2020) by John D. Tew on Filiopietism Prism.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
