Best of the Genea-Blogs - Week of 13 to 19 December 2020

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

40 Million New Names at the Digital Archives by Liv Birgit Christensen on Genealogical Research in Norway.

Secrets of Murder: Uncovering a Family History Mystery by Jessica on Legacy Tree Genealogists.

DNA Painter Year in Review 2020 by Jonny Perl on DNA Painter Blog.

How To Break Through To New Generations by DiAnn Iamarino on Fortify Your Family Tree.

Two Nephews and Two Nieces by Jacqi Stevens on A Family Tapestry.

A Land Records Challenge by Ken McKinlay on Family Tree Knots.

Triangulation Resources in One Place by Roberta Estes on DNA-eXplained - Genetic Genealogy.

Finding All Children Of An Ancestral Couple by Sunny Morton on Your DNA Guide.

Finding Your Ancestors in Poor House or Poor Farm Records by James Tanner on Genealogy's Star.

*  Website developer for more than 160 genealogy societies to shut down in six months by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte.

*  Michael & Elizabeth (Baker) Stufflebean – Not One, But Two Misfiled Estate Administrations! by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

Creating Ancestor Reports by Marcia Philbrick on Heartland Genealogy.

Inspiring Genealogy Blogs -- December 2020 by Alona Tester on Gould Genealogy.

*  Friday Fossicking, 18th Dec 2020 by Crissoulli on That Moment In Time.

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and  read their articles, and add the blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I currently am reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.

Thanks for the mention this week. Part 2 is posting tomorrow. I tried contacting the repository to let them know the probates were misfiled. I was told if they were in the wrong place, too bad. They can't correct the error! That's a good warning to everyone to cast a wider net when looking for records.
