Aunt Gerry, Linda and Randy at Boothbay Harbor, Maine -- Post 708 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I can't help it, I can't do a wordless post! This is one of my favorite photographs:

This photograph is of my aunt Geraldine (Seaver) Remley (1917-2007), Linda and me, taken in October 2004 in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.  I'm sure we enjoyed a wonderful lunch with Gerry's step-daughter, Sally who lived in Boothbay Harbor.  Gerry asked me to hold her cane.

Gerry married James Remley (1912-2007) in 1970 in Newton, Massachusetts.  Gerry was a high school music teacher and married her boss as his second wife.  After retirement, they lived in Maine where Jim had several children nearby and a cabin near Lake Cobboseccontee that we visited in 1982 and several times thereafter.  They moved to a senior living center before 2004 in Augusta.  We tried to visit them during our trips to New England to sightsee and visit family (and do genealogy!).  They visited us several times in California too.

Aunt Gerry was the successor to her mother, Alma Bessie (Richmond) Seaver (1882-1962), as the family historian.  She made a point to be the "fun aunt" who knew every niece and nephew (all 11 of us) and our children (20 of them) and kept in touch with them.  On this trip to Maine, she let me look through her photograph albums and some of the treasures she collected over the years.  After she and Jim died in 2007, I was sent the photograph albums and some of the memorabilia, including the ambrotype Union Case of my second great-grandparents, Isaac and Lucretia (Smith) Seaver, from the 1863 time.  That was a wonderful surprise!

Hey Randy,
Another coincidence.
One of your daughters lives in Santa Cruz. That's where my Master Mariner G.Grandfather spent his last few years. He is also buried there. I have a cousin who still lives there.
G. Grandpa was born in Eastport, Maine. He met and married my G. Grandmother (Rinda Brewer) in Boothbay/Southport, Maine.
I am a long time member of the Boothbay Region Historical Society.
Stay well.
Warm Regards,
Pete Small
