This is a new viewer and we are constantly improving it.<br />Please note that we have just released the first searchable index of 1940 records. A very small set from Rhode Island, but I believe this is the world's first index for searching the 1940 census by name.<br />It's on www.myheritage.com/1940census and one can choose whether to search for names or images. It's free and available to anyone even without registration. Since there is only a small number of indexed records, it makes more sense to search by images (we currently have 60% of the images online). But searching by name can give a taste of the real thing.
