This record was transcribed from the Piermont Town Records in the 1900 time frame as the state requested births, marriages and deaths to be extracted onto cards for filing with the state vital records office. The information on these cards is from a Derivative Source (the original was the original town record), Primary Information (the informant was likely the minister or town clerk at the time of the event) and Direct Evidence (it provides an explicit answer to the question of the date and place of marriage).
I have spent over one hour looking through the Piermont Town Records in the 1801 time period for this record without success to date on FamilySearch. There is no index for persons, and the marriage records are spread between two volumes in several segments amongst town meetings, tax lists, etc. I will keep trying!
Amos and Polly (Medcalf) Underhill are my 4th great-grandparents. I descend through their daughter, Mary Ann Underhill (1815-1883) who married Samuel Vaux in about 1839.
