Seavers in the News - Hobart L. Seaver dies in 1954 in Barre, Vermont

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a semi-regular feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the The Burlington [Vt.] Free Press newspaper dated Saturday, 30 January 1954:

The transcription of this obituary is:

"HOBART SEAVER

"BARRE, Jan. 29 -- Hobart L. Seaver, 48, died Friday morning at the Barre City Hospital where he had been a patient since Thursday.

"Mr. Seaver, manager of the store at the Granite City Cooperative Creamery, had gone to work as usual and was stricken with a heart attach while he was shoveling snow.

"He was born April 16, 1905 in Washington, son of Leo and Edith (Hanson) Seaver.  He attended Washington school and Goddard Seminary, then located in Barre.  He had been employed at the creamery for the past 27 years.  Last month he had moved to Burlington and since then had commuted to and from his employment in Barre.

"Mr. Seaver in 1953 married Miss. Katherine R. Bing of Burlington, who survives.  He also leaves a son by a former marriage, Russell Seaver of Washington; two brothers, Kenneth Seaver of Washington and Paul Seaver of Barre; one sister, Mrs. William 'Lola' Carle of Barre.

"An enthusiastic hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Barre Fish and Game Club.  He was a former member of the Odd Fellows in Washington.

"  Funeral services are to be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the Whitcomb Funeral Home, 102 Washington St.  Burial will be in the Washington cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday.  The Whitcomb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."

According to my RootsMagic family tree database, Hobart Leigh. Seaver  was born 16 April 1905 in Washington, Orange County, Vermont, the son of Leo Wallace and Edith May (Hanson) Seaver.
I also had the 30 December 1953 marriage record to Katherine Bing, the first spouse's name as Esther Irene (Bowman) Paige and the son.

I was able to find the birth dates, first marriages, and death dates of both spouses.  Hobart died less than a month after his second marriage to Katherine.  Her maiden name was Ryan and she married again to Laureston Adams in 1959, and died in 1992.

Hobart Leigh Seaver (1905-1954) is my 8th cousin twice times removed.
