4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):

Most of the available information about Marie Saeger and the Spengler family is from the book:

Edward W. Spangler, The Annals of the Families of Caspar, Henry, Baltzer and George Spengler, published in York, Pennsylvania in 1896[1].  Hans Rudolf Spengler was the father of the Spangler immigrants to Pennsylvania in the 1730 time frame.

In present day Baden-Wurttemburg, Sinsheim is about 10 miles southeast of Heidelberg, and Weiler is about two miles directly south of Sinsheim.  Hilsbach is less than a mile southwest of Weiler.

Marie Saeger was born before 1670, probably in Dühren, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, the daughter of Hans and Maria (Bailer) Saeger.

Marie married in 1690, as his second wife, to Hans Rudolf Spengler, probably in Sinsheim.

Information about names and birth dates of the children of Hans Rudolf Spengler are probably from the Hilsbach pastor's record book.  The children of Hans Rudolf Spengler with Marie Saeger were[1]:

1.  Anna Maria Spengler, born May 18, 1693, wife of Joh. Bernhard Brenneisen of Reihen, near Sinsheim.

2.  Rudolph Spengler, born September 24, 1696.

3.  Jacob Spengler, born September 22, 1698.

4)  Hans George Spengler, born February 2, 1701, married Katherine Laub; emigrated to America in 1732, and died, without issue, in Philadelphia, in 1744.

5.  Joh. Henry Spengler, born July 1, 1703.

6.  Jorg Heinrich Spengler, born June 8, 1704, married Susanne Muller, January 17, 1730; emigrated to America, 1732, and settled in York County, Pennsylvania, 1732.

7.  Joh. Balthazar Spengler, born November 29, 1706, married April 29, 1732, Magdalena Ritter; emigrated to America in 1732, and settled in York County, Pennsylvania in 1732.

8.  Anna Elizabeth Spengler, wife of Martie Moser, of Rohrbach, born March 19, 1710.

9.  Peter Spengler, born May 19, 1712, emigrated to America in 1740, arrived in Philadelphia, and was never heard from.

There is no death or burial record known for Marie (Saeger) Spengler in Germany or in Pennsylvania.

  1. I'm descended from the youngest son! Peter had many descendants and, like his sister, married a Moser (in Virginia). Do you know any more about the Moser family?
