Seavers in the News - LeGrand Seaver Dies in 1953 in New York

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Post-Star [Glens Falls, N.Y.]  newspaper dated 2 February 1953:

The transcription of the article is:

"LeGrand Seaver, Sr.

"LeGrand Seaver, Sr., of Miller Hill, died Sunday in Glens Falls Hospital where he had been a patient for the last 16 days.  He was born in Nebraska Oct. 18, 1882, and was engaged in the trucking business before his retirement.  He was a member of Glens Falls Grange 1175, Warren County Pomona Grange, New York State Grange, the American Pension Club of Glens Falls and the Queensbury Association.

"He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace A. Seaver; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Root of Fort Edward; a son, LeGrand Seaver, Jr., of Greenwich; a foster daughter, Mrs. James P. McCarthy, South Glens Falls; two grandsons, Raymond Francis Root of Fort Edward and Clarence Seaver of Greenwich; a granddaughter, Linda Jean Seaver, Greenwich; a sister, Mrs. Jean Sipperly, and a brother, Harry Seaver, both Albany.

"Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 341 Glen Street, by the Rec. A. King Wise, pastor of the First Baptist Church.  Interment will be in Pine View Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home today and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M.

"Glens Falls Grange will conduct ritualistic services at 8 P.M. Tuesday."

The source citation for the article is:

"LeGrand Seaver Sr." obituary, The Post-Star [Glens Falls, N.Y.] newspaper, Monday, 2 February 1953, page 11, column 2, LeGrand Seaver Sr. obituary;   Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com : accessed 27 December 2018).

The obituary provides the birth date, death date, spouse's married name, the names of his children, grandchildren and living siblings.

I did not have the death date of Myron LeGrand Seaver, Sr. (1882-1953), the married surname of his daughter Frances L. (Seaver) Root (1928-2014), the names of the grandchildren, or the name of the adopted daughter.

Myron LeGrand Seaver is my 5th cousin 3 times removed.
