Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1686 Birth of Abigail Smith in Medfield, Massachusetts

It's Treasure Chest Tuesday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the 1686 birth record of Abigail Smith in the Medfield, Massachusetts town vital record book:
The Abigail Smith birth record is:

The transcription of this record is:

"[SMITH] Abigaill, d. Sam[ue]ll and Sarah, Dec. 18 [?], 1686"

The source citation for this record is:

Vital Records of Medfield, Massachusetts to the Year 1850 (Boston, Mass. : New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1903), Virthss, page 90, Abigaill Smith entry, 18 December 1686.

This is a Derivative Source record for the birth of Abigail Smith. It is Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth date and place, and the names of her parents. The original record is probably a Medfield town record that has been lost over the centuries.

Abigail Smith (1686-1725) was the daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Clarke) Smith of Medfield. John Fisher (1677-1727) and Abigail (Smith) Fisher married on 23 April 1705 in Medfield.  They are my 7th great-grandparents, through their daughter Abigail Fisher (1711-1785) who married John Plimpton (1708-1756) in 1731 in Medfield.
