Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 1 February 2021

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society General Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom with 38 attendees.  Diane Gould Hall was the speaker on "My Visit to Scotland: What I Did Right and What I Did Wrong.”  Fun and inspiring.

2)  Attended today's Mondays With Myrt webinar but didn't get to share anything.  We discussed Colleen Greene's photo treasures, the Netherlands North sea flood of 1953, the new FHL page, backup services, new books, Diana's "Vital Events 101" class, and spent a lot of time on Centurial, an evidence based software program.

3)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandfather #578 Samuel Prescott (1674-1758) of Lancaster, Concord and Acton, Mass. for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

5)  Added several more chromosome segments from DNA matches with known ancestors to my DNA Painter chromosome map from MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA, 23andMe and GEDmatch.  I'm up to 26% from 161 segments.  Now I need to do more DNA match tracing.

6)  Ancestry added 126 new DNA matches this past week, with no new ThruLines, and  MyHeritage added 54 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on  AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added Notes to 9 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known shared ancestors, but have no new matches with known common ancestors.

7)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 40,250 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 140).

8)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 61,349 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 126), and 132.619 source citations (up 264).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 331 profiles, and I resolved 1,890 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 146,560 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

9)  Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which three were a press release.  The most popular post last week was Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Best Summer Vacation as a Kid  with over 407 views.

10)  Finished reading Nathan Dylan Goodwin's latest ebook, The Chester Creek Murders, on my laptop - EXCELLENT!

11)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much in Week 45 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy, eating, sleeping, cleaning, and a little yard work.  I watched the golf tournament on Sunday.
