It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.
The treasure today is the 1661 birth entry for Hannah Lawrence in the Watertown, Massachusetts town vital record book:
The birth record transcription for Hannah Lawrence is:
"Hannah Lawrence daughter of George & elizabeth Lawrence Borne 24 of March "
The source citation for this record is:
Watertown Records, Comprising the First and Second Book of Town Proceedings, with the Land Grants and Possessions. etc. (Watertown, Mass. : Watertown Historical Society, 1894), Volume 1, page 24, Hannah Lawrence birth entry, 24 March 1661/2.
This is an entry in a transcribed and alphabetized vital record book for Watertown, Massachusetts, so it is a Derivative Source with Primary Information and Direct Evidence of the birth of Hannah Lawrence. The original record should be in the Watertown town records, but I could not find it on Ancestry.
Hannah Lawrence (1661-after 1726), daughter of George and Elizabeth (Crispe) Lawrence of Watertown, married Obadiah Sawtell (1648-1740), the son of Richard and Elizabeth (--?--) Sawtell in about 1680. Obadiah and Hannah (Lawrence) Sawtell had 13 children, all probably born in Watertown or Groton.
Obadiah and Hannah (Lawrence) Sawtell are my 7th great-grandparents, through their son Hezekiah Sawtell (1703-1779), who married Joanna Willson (1701-1786) in 1723 in Groton, Massachusetts.
