Aubles in the News - 1925 Obituary for Theodore C. Auble of Easton, Pennsylvania

It's time for another edition of "Aubles in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Auble (my grandmother's maiden surname) that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Morning Call [Allentown, Penn.] newspaper dated 10 May 1925:

The transcription of the article is:

"Theodore C. Auble

"Theodore C. Auble, a well known Eastonian, of 105 South Ninth street, died suddenly at 3:20 o'clock Friday afternoon while at work at the Phillipsburg plant of the Ingersoll-Rand company from heart trouble.  He had been in apparently good health up to a few moments before his death occurred, and his sudden demise greatly shocked his fellow workers and his wide circle of friends.

"Mr. Auble, who was 60 years old, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Auble; a son, Raymond Auble, of Wilson borough, and two brothers, Frank P. Auble of Wilson, and Geo. Auble of Belvidere.

"He was a member of the First Baptist church of Easton, of Venderveer Lodge, No. 1105, I.O.O.F, and of the Ingersoll Relief.

"The body was taken to the home of his son, Raymond Auble, 1950 Lehigh street, where the funeral services will be held."

This obituary provides a death date and place, a cause of death, an age, the names of his wife, child, siblings, and there is some information about his occupation or associations.

Theodore C. Auble was born 4 August 1864 in Blairstown, New Jersey, the son of Robert and Ellen E. (Hartman) Auble.  He married Mary E. Furman (1866-1927) in about 1892 in New Jersey.  They had one child:

*  Raymond Drake Auble (1895-1971), married 1921 Frances Lulu Heath (1890-1948).

I am a first cousin thrice removed to  Theodore C. Auble.  Our common ancestors are my 3rd great-grandparents John Auble (1780-1831) and Anna Row (1787-1860).

There are hundreds of Auble "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person dies suddenly after a relatively short life.   I am glad that I can honor Theodore C. Auble today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
