Carringers in the News -- Mrs. William E. Carringer Dies in 1962 in Ohio

  It's time for another edition of "Carringers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Carringer (my mother's maiden surname) that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The News Herald [Franklin, Penn.] newspaper dated 21 June 1962:

The transcription of this article is:

Fanny Bertha Latshaw (1876-1962) was born 16 September 1876 in Barkeyville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Jennie (Emery) Latshaw.  She married William Earl Carringer (1875-1948) in 1899 in Venango county, Pennsylvania.  She died 17 June 1962 in Cleveland, Ohio.  They had four children:

*  Jennie Adelle Carringer (1899-1974), married 1924 Harry Louis Groh (1900-1978).
*  Leora Pearl Carringer (1901-1982), married (1) 1919 Albert William Singleton (1896-1971); (2) 1928 Abel W. Haldeman (1902-1984).
*  Hazel May Carringer (1903-1995), married (1) 1920 Homer Lester Baker (1898-????); (2) 1926 Frank Rogers (1900-????).
*  Earl Leroy Carringer (1906-1973), married 1946 Alma D. Reith (1911-1991).

I am a third cousin twice removed to  William Earl Carringer.  Our common ancestors are my 4th great-grandparents Martin Carringer (1758-1835) and Maria Magdalena Hoax (1768-1851).

There are hundreds of Carringer "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person lives a long life and dies with family with her.  I am glad that I can honor Fanny Bertha (Latshoaw) Carringer today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
