Treasure Chest Thursday -- 1681 Marriage Record of Joseph Grout and Susanna Hager in Watertown, Mass.

It's Treasure Chest Thursday - a chance to look in my digital image files to see what treasures I can find for my family history and genealogy musings.

The treasure today is the Marriage entry for Joseph Grout and Susanna Hagar in Watertown, Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1681 in Torrey's Marriage in New England book:

The marriage entry is  the 7th from the bottom of the page:

The transcription of this record is:

"GROUT, Joseph (1649-) & Susanna [HAGER]; b 1681; Watertown".

The source citation for this record is:

"New England Marriages to 1700," online database with digital images, AmericanAncestors.org (New England Historic Genealogical Society, 2008, page 328, Joseph Grout and Susanna Hager entry, 1681.

This is an entry in a digitized published book for marriages in New England to 1700, which was derived from town record books and other records by Clarence Almon Torrey in the 19th century.  It is a Derivative Source with Secondary Information and Direct Evidence of the marriage of Joseph Grout and Susanna Hager.

Joseph Grout married Susannah Hagar (1653-1731) in about 1681 in Watertown, Massachusetts Bay Colony.  They had four children between 1681 and 1689, all recorded in Watertown.

Joseph and Susanna (Hagar) Grout  are my 7th great-grandparents, through their Son Joseph Grout (1683-1758) who married Mary Harrington (1693-1774)  in 1717.
