Seavers in the News - Richard L. Seaver Dies in Spokane, Washington in 1956

 It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the Spokane [Wash.] Chronicle newspaper dated 10 November 1956:

The transcription of the article is:

"SEAVER, Richard L. -- Entered into rest Nov. 9 at a local hospital.  His home W3702 Heroy.  Survived by his wife, Lorena Seaver, at the home; 3 daughters, Mrs. Beverly Riley in New Jersey; Mrs. Barbara Wright in Calif.; and Mrs. Pattie Hall; 1 son, Richard Seaver, Jr., at the home; 4 grandchildren.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Riplinger Funeral Home, N4305 Division St."

The source citation is:

This death notice provides the name, home address, death date and place, spouse's name, children's names, but no other information about his age, education, employment or associations.   

Richard Leonard Seaver was born 9 December 1898 in Kansas, the son of Arthur Wilson and Floy M. (Mount) Seaver.  He died 9 November 1956 in Spokane, Washington.  He married (1) Mabel Ellen Horsey (1907-1934) on 14 June 1924 in Spokane.  They had two children:

*  Richard Leonard Seaver (1925-1971).

*  Beverly Mae Seaver (1927-1993), married 1950 Wilbur L. Reilly (1924-????).

Richard L. Seaver married (2) Lorena Esther (Pellenburg) Ruby (1903-1970) on 3 May 1941 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.  They had no children.  Lorena had children Barbara and Pattie by her first husband.

I am nor related to Richard Leonard Seaver.  He is descended from Henry and Elizabeth (--?--) Seaver, who were born in Germany and migrated to Virginia before 1770.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a death notice with very few details and extra "daughters." I am glad that I can honor Richard Leonard Seaver today.  

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
