Seavers in the News - Mrs. Anna Clarke (Bendle) Seaver Dies at 91 in 1959 in Moline, Illinois

It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Dispatch [Moline, Ill.] newspaper dated 9 June 1959:

The transcription of the article is:

"Mrs. Anna Seaver

"REYNOLDS -- Mrs. Anna Clarke Seaver, 91, of Reynolds, died at 5:45 last night at Oak Glen Convalescent Home in Coal Valley, where she had been since Dec. 18, 1958.  Services will be at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon at Crummy Funeral Home in Reynolds, the Rec. "She was born Sept. 18, 1867, in Menasha, Wis., to Leonard and Catherine Bendle Sr.  She came to Illinois City with her parents as a small child.  She attended schools there, and taught school for 10 years in Moline and Rock Island County.

"Mrs. Anna Seaver,The Dispatch [Moline, Ill.] newspaper, Thursday, 9 June 1959, page 10, column 8, Marie R. Seaver obituary; Newspapers.com   (https://www.newspapers.com : accessed 11 November  2021).

This obituary provides the name, birth date and place, parents names, death date and place, age, child's, occupation, but not her spouse's name and several associations.

Anna Clarke Bendle was born 18 September 1867 in Menasha, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leonard and Catherine (--?--) Bendle.  She died 8 June 1959 in Rock Island Cou18 December 1895 in Illinois City, Illinois.  They had two children:

*  Leonard Philip Seaver (1898-1950), married 1934 Ada Faye Wakefield (1908-1988).
*  Douglas Bendle Seaver (1900-1976), married 1922 Wilma Dorothy Curtis (1902-1971).

I am not related to Jacob Allen Seaver.  He is a descendant of Henry and Elizabeth (--?--) Seaver who migrated from Germany to Virginia in the 1700s.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person's obituary has somel ife information but does not name the spouse. I am glad that I can honor Anna Clarke (Bendle) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
