Seavers in the News -- Mrs. Lytie Seaver Dies in 1961 in Wellsville, New York

 It's time for another edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from the The Wellsville [N.Y.] Daily Reporter newspaper dated 19 July 1961:

The transcription of the article is:

This obituary provides the name, age, birthplace, parents names, spouse's name, children names, death date and place, an occupation, a residence, but no association information.

Lytie Genevra Perkins (1878-1961) was born 3 November 1878 in Willing, New York, the daughter of Orville Thomas and Clarissa Francenia (Livermore) Perkins.  She married Harold Andrew Seaver (1872-1951) on 7 March 1900 in Allegany County, New York.  They had two children:

*  Orville Dudley Seaver (1902-1970), married about 1935 Ruth Dorothy Knapp (1916-1957).
*  Gloria Clarissa Seaver (1910-1992), married 1) 1928 Newton Millward Phillips (1909-1953);  2) 1960 Walter R. McMurtry (1904-1978).

Harold Andrew Seaver (1872-1951) is my 5th cousin 3x removed.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 7th great-grandfather Joseph Seaver (1672-1754).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person's obituary provides a pretty complete list of the family members. I am glad that I can honor Lytie Genevra (Perkins) Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
