Seavers in the News -- Ora A. Seaver Dies in 1962 in Amherst, Massachusetts

  Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Burlington [Vt.] Free Press newspaper dated 2 July 1962:

The transcription of the article is:

"AMHERST, MASS.

This is a fairly complete obituary, with name, residence, parents names, birth date and place, education, occupation, spouse's name, children's names and locations, and associations.  However, there are minor discrepancies in the name (Ora A.) and spouse's name (Rita W.).

Ora Everett Luce Seaver (1892-1972) was born 3 May 1892 in Stowe, Vermont, the son of Arthur Stannard and Dolores K. (Adams) Seaver of Stowe.  He married Greta Weldon Miles (1892-1983) on 20 November 1915 in West Somerville, Mass.  They had two sons:

*  Arthur Weldon Seaver (1925-2008), married 1946 Lucille Mary Hamilton (1925-1990).
*  Miles Adams Seaver (1929-2006), married 1954 Margaret E. Joy (1924-2017).

Ora Everett Luce Seaver (1892-1962) is my 7th cousin 3x removed.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 9th great-grandfather Robert Seaver (1608-1683).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has an obituary with complete information. I am glad that I can honor Ora Everett Luce Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
