CVGS General Meeting (in a Zoom Video Conference)
Glenda Lloyd on "Documenting Your Heirlooms”
There are many things in your family history that are important and worth documenting beyond birth, marriage and death dates. Family traditions and stories about items in the family can enrich the family history and ensure that the information is passed on to future generations accurately and correctly.
Glenda was born and raised on a cattle ranch in northern California in Modoc County. She attended a one-room country school for seven years. Her high school graduating class was 53. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a teaching credential in Early Childhood Education. Most of her teaching career was spent as a reading specialist.
She became interested in Family History listening to my grandmother sharing family stories. In 1978 four gals took a course at American River College. Root Cellar, Sacramento Genealogical Society was organized that summer. Glenda served as its first president and the Board of Directors for 44 years. She teaches genealogy classes through Adult Education and do programs for genealogy societies.
