Seavers in the News -- 1980 Obituary of Cletus Seaver (1902-1980) of New Jersey

Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Central New Jersey Home News newspaper dated Tuesday, 23 December 1980, Page 3, Column 1:

This obituary provides a good summary of the life and family of Harold W. Seaver, along with his employment, associations and services.

Cletus A. Seaver (1902-1980) was born 12 April 1902 in Staten Island, New York, the son of Larence A. and Mary A. (Delaney) Seaver.  Cletus died on 21 December 1980 in Princeton, New Jersey.  He married Mary Hoolihan (1902-1980) before 1934, probably in Richmond County, New York.  They had four children:

*  Mary Jane Seaver (1934-????), married John C. Cantwell (1933-????).
*  Lawrence A. Seaver (1937-2014), married about 1960 Joanne E. Grimm (1943-????)
*  Thomas C. Seaver (1939-????), married before 1977 Darlene Frances Bennett (1947-2006).
*  Kathryn S. Seaver (1946-????), married ???? Alvin.

Cletus A. Seaver (1902-1980) is not a Seaver cousin to my knowledge - he is descended from Patrick and Julia (McGlynn) Seaver who emigrated from Ireland in the early 1800s to New York City.

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this is one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has an excellent obituary with detailed information.  I am glad that I can honor Cletus A. Seaver today.

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
