From Irish nationalism to Victorian courtship, this week’s new additions chart the ups, downs, loves, losses, and everyday lives of our ancestors. What could you discover this week?
Ireland, Irish Memorials Association Published Baptisms
Have you ever imagined the church where your ancestor was baptised, or wondered who stood beside them at the font? To delve into the earliest chapters of your family's story, the Journal of the Association for the Preservation of the Memorials of the Dead in Ireland offers an unexpected source: transcribed baptism records taken from parish registers and newspaper announcements.
These rare entries, gathered by volunteers between 1892 and 1934, can help you place your ancestor in a time, place, and family, often when no other records survive.
Ireland, Irish Memorials Association Published Marriages
Do you know when and where your ancestors began their lives together, or who witnessed their vows? Delve into these turning points in your family's past with the Journal of the Association for the Preservation of the Memorials of the Dead in Ireland.
The volumes contain surprising treasures, including marriage records drawn from parish registers and newspaper notices. Compiled by volunteers across every county in Ireland, these entries, many from Church of Ireland sources, can reveal names, dates, and connections that are essential for building and confirming your family tree.
