Best of the Genea-Blogs - 13 to 19 January 2019

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Three Decades of Historical Context by J.L. Bell on the Boston 1775 blog.

10 Ways We Build Our Own Brick Walls by Elizabeth Shown Mills on the Evidence Explained blog.

Why DNA Tests Are NO Substitute for Genealogical Research by Lynn  Serafinn on the Trentino Genealogy blog.

*  23andMe Adds 1000+ More Regions and 30+ New Reports for the Most Refined View of Ancestry To-Date by the writer of the 23andMe Blog.

*  The True Story of Mary Cook: Wagon Trains, Gold Rushes, Shipwrecks, Wars, Fires, Earthquakes, Love & More! Part I; Part II; Part III by Vernon Case Gsuntt on the GenealogyBank blog.
\
Unearth the Lead, Unearth the Slaveholder by Nicka Smith on the Who Is Nicka Smith? blog.

Genealogy Research Behind Closed Doors by Melissa Barker in the A Genealogist in the Archives blog.

*  Connecting DNA Matches Using a Master Match Tree – Part One, The Story; Part Two, The How-to by Amberly Beck on The Genealogy Girl blog.

* Indexing and DNA by Marcia Philbrick on the Heartland Genealogy blog.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
