Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 2 March 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended RootsTech 2020 in Salt Lake City from Wednesday night through Saturday.  There are posts for each day in:

2)  Attended two classes at RootsTech:

*  Getting the Most From Historical Records on Ancestry

3)  Received the GeneaBloggers Lifetime Achievement Award at the Geneabloggers photo opportunity on Friday at RootsTech.  See information at:

4)  Had a wonderful time at Pat's RootsTech After-party on Saturday Night with about 35 geneablogging colleagues.  Good food, great discussions, a fun game, and wonderful people.  Diane Gould Hall and I Ubered to and from the party - my first time.

5)  Had one-on-one discussions with a number of individuals at RootsTech, including Jay Verkler, Gilad Japhet, Jack Minsky, James Tanner, Marian Pierre-Louis, David Lambert, Roberta Estes, Connie Knox, and many more.  Visited many vendor exhibits, and participated in the MyHeritage Mayflower VR experience.

6)  Met George Crabb, a 4th cousin on my Sovereen line, and Julie Kelly, a 4th cousin of Linda's on her Norway line, at RootsTech and had a fun time sharing life and genealogy experiences with them.

7)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt with Pat Richley-Erickson.  We discussed RootsTech, including Russ's Family Tree Maker booth, Graham's FHL visits, Dave in the Trace Coaches Corner experience, my Geneablogger award, and Pat's classes and visits; the FamilySearch and MyHeritage Fan View trees; Ancestry World War II Young Men's Draft Registration collection; the Society of Genealogists partnership with FamilySearch; and Pat's Ancestry class with Crista Cowan, where she found out that Find A Grave index is updated every six months.

8)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandfather #530 Samuel Hubburd (1687-1753) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

9)  Transcribed the 1765 will of William Richman (1694-1769) of Hilperton, Wiltshire for Amanuensis Monday.  This John Richman may be my ancestor - I don't know yet.

10)  Added Notes to about 10 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors, and added three ThruLines to the RootsMagic family tree database.  Reviewed new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

11) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 34,498 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 48).

12)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 56,245 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 34) , and 116,490 source citations (up 7).   I TreeShared one time this week updating 62 profiles, and I resolved 0 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 125,475 to be resolved, but I work on them weekly.

13)  Wrote 25 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which five were press releases.  The most popular post last week was RootsTech 2020 Salt Lake City Blog Compendium - Updated!
  with over 455 views.
