Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 27 July 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Watched the San Diego Genealogical Society Members Only Zoom webinar on Saturday, with Thomas MacEntee on "What's Been Done: Using Someone Else's Genealogy Research"

2)  Watched one Family Tree Webinar -- "Elusive Immigrant: The Search for Dora Lühr" by Warren Bittner.

3)  Participated as a panelist in Mondays with Myrt today in a Zoom meeting.  We discussed AncestryDNA small matches, Liv's Norwegian name practices, John's Dutch name change record, my Joseph Clark probate record, Dave's Mayflower stuff and Relative Finder, the Shared cM chart, Renate on Shannon Christmas's interview for 15 August, and the Oklahoma Freedmen Collective.

4)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of 7th great-grandfather #550 Joseph Clarke  (1664-1731) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

5)  Transcribed the 1732 division of the real estate of Joseph Clark (1664-1731) of Medfield, Mass.  for Amanuensis Monday.  48 page probate file (original papers), 28 land parcels, 26 years, widow and 8 children receive property worth £2000.

6)  Added 1 AncestryDNA ThruLines to my RootsMagic tree, and added Notes to 11 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors.  Ancestry added 106 new DNA Matches this past week.  Reviewed new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

7) There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 36,724 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 108).

8)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 58,378 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 66), and 124.850 source citations (up 288).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree two times this week updating 197 profiles, and I resolved 830 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 132,155 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

9)  Wrote 18 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which two were a press release.  The most popular post last week was Dear Randy: "How Do You Plan To Pass On Your Genealogy Life's Work?" - Post 1 with over 597 views.

10)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Thursday, and it wasn't too busy.  Church is closed again so we watched the YouTube video.  I had my new crown installed by the dentist on Friday.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy, eating, sleeping and a little yard work, plus reading the free mystery books I downloaded while watching TV.
