Monday Genea-Pourri - Week Ending 11 October 2020

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week:

1)  Attended the Chula Vista Genealogical Society Board Meeting on Zoom on Wednesday and reported on the 3 Zoom meetings and the Newsletter.  Wrote, edited and published a 12-page newsletter for October via email to the members on Sunday.
2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society monthly Program Zoom meeting on Saturday featuring two talks by Shannon Christmas.

3)  Participated in today's Mondays With Myrt.  We discussed Netherlands divorces, divorce records, the FamilySearch wiki, Canning food practices, the BOAAG scam, my Ephraim Wight probate records, Miss Peggy's obituary and funeral card collection, and upcoming TV Shows.

4)  Watched one Family Tree Webinars video - Advanced DNA Techniques: Deductive Chromosome Mapping, by Blaine Bettinger.

5)  Wrote and posted a biographical sketch of my 7th great-grandfather #562 Nathaniel Pierce (1655-1692) for my 52 Ancestors biographical sketch on Friday.

7)  Tried out the MyHeritage Mixtiles feature to create wall art pieces using six wedding photos of my ancestors - see Use MyHeritage Family Photos To Make Stunning Wall Art with Mixtiles.

8)  Added Notes to 40 more AncestryDNA matches with cM values, relationships and known common ancestors.  Ancestry added 95 new DNA matches this past week.  I added one more ThruLine to my RootsMagic tree.  MyHeritage added 17 new DNA matches.   Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.

9)  There were several sessions working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 37,895 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 136).

10)  Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and sources to my RootsMagic profiles.  I now have 59,300 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 89), and 127,049 source citations (up 275).   I TreeShared with my Ancestry Member Tree twice this week updating 195 profiles, and I resolved 1,165 Ancestry Hints.  I've fallen behind on the Ancestry Record Hints with 135,109 to be resolved, but I work on them almost daily.

11)  Wrote 15 Genea-Musings blog posts last week, of which one was a press release.  The most popular post last week was Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Top 5 or 10 Fee-Based Genealogy Sites  with over 270 views.

12)  We are still fine here at the Genea-cave, hunkered down and not going out much in Week 30 of COVID-19 isolation.  I went to the grocery store on Monday and Friday, and it wasn't too busy.  We went to church on Sunday morning.  Other than that, it was stay-at-home on the computer doing genealogy, eating, sleeping and a little yard work, watching the Padres games, and started another new mystery book.  My Padres lost the NLDS playoff series to the Dodgers, but I got over it.
