Amanuensis Monday -- 1750 Deed of Robert Sever of Framingham, Mass. Buying Land in Narragansett No. 2 from Josiah Browne

 This week's document for transcription is the 1750 deed record for Robert Sever, bricklayer of Framingham buying Lot number 70 in Narragansett No. 2 from Josiah Browne, Esquire of Sudbury, for 60 pounds.

To all People to whome these Presents shall come Greeting. Know ye
that I Josiah Browne of Sudbury in y'e County of Midellsex in
the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England Esq'r for &
In consideration of the sum of Sixty Pounds Lawfull money
to me in hand and truly paid by Robert Sever of Framingham
in said County Bricklayer to my full content & Satisfaction
have given Remised Released sold &c by these Presents do fully &
freely and absolutely give grant sell Remise Release and forever
quitclaim unto him the said Robert Seaver a Certain Lott of Land
in Narragansett Township/ so-called N'o. 2 Lying northwesterly of Watchusett
said Lott being originally the Right of M'r Dennis Headly / a Soldier
in Narragansett Fight and by him sold to Mr. Joseph Ball Late
of Watertown Dec'd and by him in his Life Time conveyed to his
son Josiah Ball as by their Deed may appear and by the said Josiah
Ball sold to James Jones Jun'r of Weston as may appear by his Deed
Dated April 28'th 1735 and since conveyed to Elisha Jones of Weston as
may appear by his Deed dated April And since by the said Elisha Jones conveyed
to me the aforesaid Josiah Browne, the same being Laid out &
is in Number Seventy as may be seen by the Platt and is Lying

near Watchusett Pond Together with all the other Rights & Divisions
Remainder or Remainders thereunto belonging within the said Town-
ship being the single Right or share of one Soldier according to y'e act of
the General Court Whether Laid out or yet to be Laid out.

To have nd to hold to him the said Robert Sever
with all the Priviledges appurtenances Comodities and Conveniences
thereunto belonging and to his Heirs and assigns for his and their only Proper
use Benefitt and behoofe forever and the said Josiah Browne doth for himself
his Heirs Executors Covenant To and with the said Robert Sever and his Heirs
and assigns that before the Ensealing hereof he is the True andLawfull owner
of y'e said Premises and hath in himself good Right & Lawfull authority
to Sell and convey the same in manner as aforesaid and that the said
Robert Seaver and his Heirs and assigns may by Force & Vertue of these
Presents have hold use occupy possess and Enjoy the Demised & Every
part thereof free and Clear Excepting that the said Robert Sever or his
Heirs or assigns shall be obliged to pay all Rates or Taxes that shall
become due on the Lott or Rights aforesaid by Virtue of the Legall
Grants or Votes of the Proprietors of said Township but otherwise freely
and Clearly acquitted and discharged from all manner of former or other
Gifts Grants Sales or other Incumbrances whatsoever.

And the said Josiah Browne his Heirs Exe'c and adm'n from all right or
Title or Interest viz the Premises shall be utterly debarred by these Presents
and he said Robert Sever and his Heirs and assigns may peaceably &
quietly enjoy the same against the Lawfull Claims or Demands of the said
Josiah Browne or any other Person from by or under him forever.

In witness whereof y'e said Josiah Browne hath hereunto set
his Hand and Seal this Twentieth Day of November A.D. one thousand seven
hundred & fifty in y'e 24'th year of his majesty's Reign.  Josiah Browne {seal}

Signed sealed and Delivered in presence of Samuel Browne Elizabeth Bogle
Middlesex ss January 28'th 1755.  Then the above named Josiah Browne Esq'r
personally appeared & acknowledged y'e above written Instrument to be
his free act & Deed.                         Before me Sam'l Brigham Just. of Peace
    Feb. 4'th 1755 Rec'd & accordingly Entred & Exam'd pr J. Chandler Reg'r.

This deed is for Lot number 70 in Narragansett No. 2, later named as Westminster town.  Robert Sever paid 60 pounds for this lot northwest of Mount Wachusett in central Massachusetts.

Robert Sever (1702-1752) was the son of Joseph and Mary (Read) Sever of Framingham,  Massachusetts.  He married Eunice Rayment (1707-1772) on 2 September 1726 in Boston, and they had nine children.  Robert and Eunice (Rayment) Sever are my 6th great-grandparents through their son Norman Seaver (1734-1787).
