Seavers in the News -- Raymond Pierce Seaver (1901-1963) Dies in New Jersey in 1963

 Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The Verona-Cedar Grove Times [Verona, N.J.] newspaper dated 11 July 1963:

The transcription of the article is:

"SEAVER, Raymond Pierce of 226 Park St., Montclair, New Jersey, on Friday, July 5, 1963.  Husband of Francis Evelyn, father of Mrs. Vincent Gearey and Raymond Pierce Seaver Jr.  Service was held at Arthur K. Brown, Inc. (Home for Services), 96 Park Street at Claremont, Avenue, Montclair, New Jersey, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock."

This is a decent death notice, but far from an obituary.  At least it provides enough information to identify his wife and children.

Raymond Pierce Seaver (1901-1963) was born 18 February 1901 in Springfield, Massachusetts, the son of William Herbert and Alice May (Pierce) Seaver.  He married Frances Evelyn Leighton (1911-2005) on 14 October 1933 in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.  They had two children:

*  Diana Jane Seaver (1937-2014), married 1962 Vincent Gearey (1926-2006).

*  Raymond Pierce Seaver, Jr. (1940-????), married 1966 Elimilia Payanal (1943-2021).

Raymond Pierce Seaver (1901-1963) is probably a distant cousin of mine.  His 2nd great-grandfather, John Seaver (1777-1841) is probably related to my Seaver line, but I don't know who his parents were.   

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a death notice with very little information. I am glad that I can honor Raymond Pierce Seaver today.  

You never know when a descendant or relative will find this blog post and learn something about their ancestors or relatives, or will provide more information about them to me.
