Genealogy Pot-Pourri - Week Ending 3 October 2022

Here are the highlights of my family history and genealogy related activities over the past week.

1)  Hosted and moderated the Chula Vista Genealogical Society General Meeting on Wednesday on Zoom with 53 in attendance.  The speaker was Glenda Lloyd on "Documenting Your Heirlooms."

2)  Attended the San Diego Genealogical Society DNA Interest Group on Zoom on Saturday.  Colin Whitney presented "DNA Painter 2022."

3)  Published a genealogy biography for the 52 Ancestors series for 7th great-grandmother  #719 Mary (Tripp) Wate (1689-a1739) of Dartmouth, Massachusetts.

4) Transcribed a probate record document - 1845 Affidavit of Edward Taylor of Sterling, Massachusetts Noting Death of Abigail (Sawyer) Seaver - for the Amanuensis Monday series.

5)  Reviewed my collected notes, both digital and on paper, to help a correspondent find the farm of Martin Carringer.  I wrote it up in Rabbit Holes With Randy - Where Was the Martin Carringer (1758-1835) Farm?

6) AncestryDNA now has 40,999 DNA matches (up 67 from 26 September) for me today, with no  new ThruLines.  MyHeritageDNA now has 10,754 DNA matches (up 21 from 26 September) for me, with no new Theories.  Reviewed the new DNA matches on AncestryDNA, MyHeritageDNA, FamilyTreeDNA and 23andMe.  Added notes to 3 AncestryDNA matches.

7)  There was one session working in the RootsMagic software program to match with and update FamilySearch Family Tree profiles for Seaver families and my ancestral families, with occasional additions to the RootsMagic profiles. I have matched 48,451 of my RootsMagic persons with FamilySearch Family Tree profiles (up 0).

8) Used Web Hints and Record Matches from Ancestry, MyHeritage, Findmypast and FamilySearch to add content and source citations to my RootsMagic profiles. I now have 70,052 persons in my RootsMagic file (up 1 from 26 September), and 145,398  source citations (up 10). I TreeShared no new or modified profiles with my Ancestry Member Tree, and I resolved 111  Ancestry Hints. My Ancestry Member Tree has Ancestry Record Hints with 175,355 to be resolved, but I work on them several times a week.  My MyHeritage family trees have 200,305 Record Matches in 286 sources and I work on them occasionally.

9) Wrote 17 Genea-Musings blog posts last week (Sunday through Saturday), of which one was a press release. The most viewed post last week was
Genealogy News Bytes - 21 to 27 September 2022 with over 178 views.

10)  Real life:  This is week 134 since COVID restrictions started.  My recovery from the 30 May heart bypass surgery is (I hope)  complete.  I am still really tired every day, mainly due to lack of sleep, take at least two naps each day. Linda is at a memory care and skilled nursing facility in Chula Vista 7 miles from home and I visited her four times last week.   I went grocery shopping on Monday and Friday.   I watched the Padres games every day and we are now 87-72 on the season (2-4 last week), but clinched a playoff spot.  I watched the SDSU Aztecs game on Saturday, and we lost 35-13 to Boise State.  I watched the Chargers/Texans game on Sunday - we won 34-24.
