===========================================

In order to select a specific record collection on FamilySearch, go to  https://familysearch.org/search/collection/list and use the "Filter by collection name" feature in the upper left-hand corner and use keywords (e.g. "church england") to find collections with those keywords.

My friend, Marshall, has come up with a way to determine which collections are ADDED, DELETED or UPDATED.  Thanks to Marshall for helping me out here!

Each one of the collections listed above has a Research Wiki page (use the "Learn more" link).  It would be very useful if the Wiki page for each collection listed the dates for when the collection was added as a new collection and the dates for major updates also.

Saturday Night Genealogy Fun -- Your Favorite Photo of Your Father

Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

 It's Saturday Night again -

time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Here is your assignment if you choose to play along (cue the Mission Impossible music, please!):

1) It's Father's Day in the USA on Sunday, so let's talk about our fathers.

2)  Show us your favorite photograph of your father - the one that shows him in the best light possible.  Describe the occasion, the setting, and the people in the photograph.

3)  Tell us about it in your own blog post, in a comment on this post, or in a Facebook post.

Here's mine:

Frederick Walton Seaver Jr. (1911-1983) married Betty Virginia Carringer on 12 July 1942 in San Diego, California, and they had three sons, Randy, Stanley and Scott.

The photograph above shows the entire family - the last "good" photograph of the five of us - on the occasion of brother Scott's first marriage to Susie on 29 August 1976.  The setting was in San Diego on the grounds of the University of San Diego.

On this occasion, life for Fred was pretty good:  he was 64 years old, all three sons had moved out and were married, grandchildren had started to arrive (two by this date, a third on the way), he was retired from work, he still had outside interests (TV sports, a handyman's workshop, gardening), and they were relatively healthy.

Life for my father went downhill after that - my mother's parents died and he had to deal with that, they moved to Point Loma in 1978 to my grandparents home, sold the 30th Street properties, and they both were diagnosed with cancer in 1982 - their first real health crisis.  My father died on 26 May 1983 at age 71 of complications from prostate cancer that resulted in a heart attack in the hospital.

You never know when the last conversation, the last kiss, the last "good" photograph of your family will occur.  Practice loving your family often!

New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday, 14 June 2019

I received this information from Findmypast today:

                          ===================================================

New Records Available To Search This Findmypast Friday

There are more than nine million new records and newspaper articles available to search this Findmypast Friday.
Just under 20,000 new records covering two new parishes, Fawkham St Mary and Northfleet St Botolph, have been added to our collection of Kent parish baptisms. These new transcripts will reveal your ancestor's birth date, baptism date, parent's names, residence and father's occupation. Some records may also provide you with further details such as the mother's maiden name or additional notes.
Nearly 10,000 records from the parish of Northfleet St Botolph have been added to the collection. These transcripts can provide you with the names of both the bride and groom, the date of their marriage, the location, their birth years, residences, occupations, fathers' names and fathers' occupations.
Over 14,000 new records from the parishes of Fawkham, St Mary and Northfleet, St Botolph are now available to search. Consisting of transcripts of original burial registers, these records will enable you to discover your ancestor's age at death, burial date, burial place, dedication, residence and occupation.
Explore this comprehensive history of the Scottish peerage between 1716 and 1914. The collection includes nine volumes of The Scots Peerage along with six other titles including a single-volume Jacobite peerage. These PDF images will reveal the Peers name, their year of Peerage, death date, the name of their spouse or spouses and the names of their children.
Discover your English ancestors in our new, fully searchable collection of Phillimore Marriage Registers. The registers contain approximately 2.3 million names and record marriages in more than 1,500 parishes across 29 English counties. Each register is organised by parish, which is usually listed at the top of the page.
Celebrate St Valdemar's day by discovering your Danish ancestors with more than 6.9 million baptisms, marriages and burials. Three new Danish indexes spanning the years 1635 to 1917 are now available to search and will generate hints against your Findmypast family tree.
This week we have added 48,988 pages to The Archive, with new pages covering both England and Scotland. We're delighted to have updated four of our Scottish titles, with additions spanning the years between 1879 and 1981. We've also updated the Newcastle Journal, the Manchester Evening News, the Lichfield Mercury, the Wells Journal, and finally the Reading Evening Post. One of our Scottish titles to be updated this week is the Aberdeen Evening Express, to which we have added the years 1939-1945 and 1980-1981.

4)  NOTES (with source citations as indicated in brackets):
The most published information about this family is in the book Pioneer Families of Northwestern New Jersey by William C. Armstrong which describes the life of the mother of Thomas Gach, Elizabeth (Hunt) (Vail) (Gach) Griffith (1657-1747)[1].

Thomas Gach was born in about 1702, probably in Woodbridge, New Jersey, the second child of Thomas Gach (1660-1703) and Elizabeth (Hunt) Vail (1657-1747)[1].  His father died before 23 April 1703 when his will was proved in Middlesex County, New Jersey.

Thomas married Elizabeth Bloodgood, daughter of Jan and Mary (Morgan) Bloodgood, after 17 August 1721 in Woodbridge, New Jersey, which is recorded in the Quaker book for Rahway and Plainfield Monthly Meeting, noting[2]:

"Thomas Gach & Elizabeth Bloodgood Marriage permitted by Wood. Mtg. 6 mo 17 1721"

They had ten children, all born in Woodbridge and six of them were recorded in the Quaker church records:

*  Elizabeth Gach (1722-1724)
*  Mary Gach (1724-1789), married James Eddy (1710-1792) in 1743.
*  Elizabeth Gach (1726-1778), married Elisha Inslee (1722-1750) in 1744.
*  John Gach (1727-after 1770), married Sarah Dunham (1729-????) in about 1752.
*  Sarah Gach (1727-????), married Nathaniel Pike (1727-1766) in 1747.
*  Martha Gach (1730-????), married Samuel Fitz Randolph (1730-????) in 1750.
*  Anna Gach (1732-????), married Isaac Dunham (1737-1802) in 1759.
*  Thomas Gach (1734-????), married Keturah Clawson (1739-????) in 1759.
*  Esther Gach (1736-1757), married Jacob Shotwell (1729-????) in 1754.
*  Philip Gach (1744-1780), married Jennet Pike (1747-1821) in about 1768.

Thomas Gach  was a Quaker, and was an active member of the Woodbridge Monthly Meeting until he was disowned for quarreling with his brother.  He was clerk of the Town of Woodbridge for many years[1].

He is mentioned in his mother's will, dated 21 June 1739, and proved after her death on 3 November 1747[3]:

"Item, I give and bequeath to my son Thomas Gach all that remains in his hands (at the time of my decease) of those goods that I have left with him when I came to live with my son in law, William Bloodgood."

Thomas Gach wrote a will dated 12 April 1763 and it was proved 9 March 1770 in Middlesex County, New Jersey[4-5].  The will reads:

"In the Name of God, Amen. I Thomas Gach, of the Township of Woodbridge, in the County of Middlesex and Province of New Jersey, Esq'r, considering the Frailty of this Life, and that it is appointed for all Men once to die, and being at this Time of Sound Memory and Mind, blessed be God, do make this my Last Will and Testament, in Manner and form following, viz.
