time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
Here is your assignment, should you decide to accept it (you ARE reading this, so I assume that you really want to play along - cue the Mission Impossible music!):
1) What do you wish you had done in your life?

There are so many. I will name a few of them.
I wish that I had been an astronaut going to space and the moon. Yeah, I would be famous and would have written a book, but my eyes were imperfect. I’m not sure I could have handled the physics, the launch and recovery. To experience weightlessness, and 6-7 g-forces, would have been interesting.
I wish that we had seen more of the world. Asia, eastern Europe, Italy, Greece, Israel, Egypt, south Africa. We should have taken more tours. And now it’s too late.
I wish that we had lived more in the country. The Milky Way at night is awesome, but I saw it only a few times, in our mountains, on vacation, and at Forest Home camp. However, the commute would be longer, there is more fire danger there, and I don’t think I would want horses, cows, chickens, pigs, or practice farming.
I wish that I was more mechanically minded. Because I was left-handed, was small, and had glasses, my father didn’t teach me how to use a saw, hammer, a screwdriver, a drill, etc. I often fail putting things together well.
I wish that we had taken my parents on a cruise to far away places so that they had the experience (although my father did “cruise” on a destroyer in World War II), or to New England (to see my dad’s relatives - he last was there in late 1940).
I wish that I could have attended a San Diego Padres World Series game. We stayed home in 1984, and Lori and Linda had tickets to Game 5 in 1998, but couldn’t use them because the Pads lost the Series in four games. I hope that I’m still alive to see this happen in 2023 or beyond.
I wish that I had talked at length to my mother and father, and to their parents, about their life experiences from youth to school to family to work to old age, and their attitudes, hopes, views, and wishes. I started genealogy research 12 years after my Carringer grandparents died, and 5 years after my father died. My mother didn’t want to talk about it. We actually have a lot of records, but relatively few family stories.
That’s seven wishes, I hope it’s enough!!
