Seavers in the News -- William George Seaver Dies in 1970 in San Rafael, California

  Here is this week's edition of "Seavers in the News" - a weekly feature from the historical newspapers about persons with the surname Seaver that are interesting, useful, mysterious, fun, macabre, or add information to my family tree database.

This week's entry is from The San Francisco [Calif.] Examiner newspaper dated 27 August 1970, page 47:

The transcription of the article is:

"SEAVER, William George -- In San Rafael, August 13, 1970, William George Seaver, beloved husband of Madeline T. Seaver of San Rafael; dear brother of Martin H. Seaver of Mill Valley; a native of San Francisco, California; aged 57 years; a Veteran of WWII; Lt. Commander U.S. Navy; High Priest of Mill Valley Chapter 108 R.A.M. and Master of Redwood Empire Council No. 46, R.&S.M., of Santa Rosa.

"It was his request that there be no services and that contributions be made to the Cancer Fund or your favorite charity."

The source citation is:

This obituary identifies his name, residence, date and place of death,  names of his wife and brother, and some occupation, military service, and association information.  

William George Seaver (1913-1970) was born 4 June 1913 in San Francisco, California, the son of George Henry and Caroline (Brill) Seaver.  He died 13 August 1970 in San Rafael, California.  He married Madeline "Terry" Lorenz (1921-1972) on 16 January 1957 in Reno, Nevada.  They had no children together.  

William George Seaver is a ninth cousin once removed.  Our common Seaver ancestor is my 9th great-grandfather Robert Seaver (1608-1683).

There are over 10,000 Seaver "stories" in my family tree - and this was one of them.   Life happens, accidentally and intentionally, and sometimes a person has a rather sparse obituary. I am glad that I can honor William George Seaver today.
