This photograph was taken by somebody (probably my father) on Saturday, 21 March 1970 at the Chula Vista Presbyterian Church in Chula Vista, California, at approximately 4 p.m. This is my ride in 1970, a 1966 gold Ford Thunderbird...
Linda is in the passenger's seat and I am in the driver's seat as we prepare to depart from the wedding and reception. The perpetrators of the stuff on the car were Linda's brother, Paul (wearing a white tux in the left forefront with his back to the camera and hands in his pocket), my brother Scott (wearing a white tux on the sidewalk near the back of the car) and my cousin Joan Seaver, and probably several of my friends. I see my mother on the sidewalk in the hat holding her purse, and several of Linda's students from her 4th grade class standing on the sidewalk. I think that's the "official" photographer standing in the street trying not to get hit by the curious drivers going by.
From the church we drove to our apartment on C Street to change clothes, get the suitcases, and go to my parents house for cocktails. Then Paul and Joan and Linda's parents drove us to the airport for our flight to Los Angeles and our stay in the honeymoon suite at a nearby hotel, and the next morning we flew to Acapulco for six nights in a small hotel on the cliffs. On the way to the airport, the car ran over a box spring from a mattress and got caught in the springs and we had to stop. Linda's dad and brother lifted the car enough so that we could remove the box springs.

Do they still put "STUFF" on newlywed's transportation? I spent 9 years in Germany (1979-1988) and forgotten all about the streamers, etc.
