The subject today is the 1803 quitclaim deed of Nathan Gates of Gardner, Massachusetts to the heirs of Simon Gates deceased of Gardner:

all men by these presents that I
Nathan
Gates of Gardner in the County of Worcester & Common-
wealth
of Massachusetts yeoman in consideration of Three
hundred
fifteen dollar and twelve cents paid me by the
heirs
of Simon Gates late of Gardner in sd County Dec^d the
receipt
whereof I do hereby acknowledge do hereby grant sell
and
quitclaim unto the Said Elisabeth Gates Simon Gates
Daniel
Gates Reuben Gates and Ezekiel Gates being heirs of
the
said Simon Gates their heirs and assigns all my right
to
the claim and demand in and unto the following tracts of land
which
was set off a Dower or thirds to the widow Susanna Gates
of
the Estate of Simon Gates late of Gardner deceased two tracts
containing
thirty four acres being part of the home farm of
said
Deceased the bound of which will fully appear reference
being
had to the records of the division of the real Estate of said
deceased
at the Register of Probate office of said County. And
one
other tract of land being the Conant Lot so called the
bounds
of which fully appear reference being had as above.
To
have and to hold the same to the Said Elizabeth
Gates
Simon Gates Daniel Gates Reuben Gates & Ezekiel

their heirs and assigns to their use and behoof

and I do covenant to warrant and defend the said
granted
and quitclaimed premises to the said Elizabeth

This deed of Nathan Gates quitclaims his interest in the real estate distributed to his mother (Susannah Gates) and his siblings (Simon, Daniel, Elizabeth, Reuben and Ezekiel Gates), for the sum of $315.12 which he apparently received from his father before his father died. It completes the transactions necessary to close the Simon Gates (1739-1803) estate file.
Nathan Gates (1767-1830) is my 4th great-grandfather, who married Abigail Knowlton (1774-1855) in 1790. I am descended from their daughter, Abigail Gates (1797-1867), who married Benjamin Seaver (1791-1825).
