Day 1 Afternoon at SCGS Jamboree

I had every intention of going to Tom Jones talk on "Getting Beyond the Bare Bones: Reconstructing Your Ancestors' Lives" at 1 p.m. at the SCGS Jamboree. I was looking forward to it.  But it was hot in the tent with 90F temperatures outside the tent and no cooling inside the tent with lots of people already seated.

My second choice was to roam the Exhibit Hall, which I did - talked to several folks in the booths during the 1 p.m. class hour.  I went up to the room and pounded out the morning blog post with some photos.  I read a bunch of blogs, then rested my eyes for awhile.

I missed the 2:30 p.m. classes, but managed to make Karen Mauer Jones' talk at 4 p.m. on "Cluster Methodology: A Case Study in Upstate New York."  After the class, I went to the Exhibit Hall and took some pictures and talked with folks.  Here are some of the photos:

Here are my San Diego geneablogging friends J. Paul Hawthorne and Diane Gould Hall after Karen's talk:

Look who I saw in the Exhibit Hall - Barbara has been gone from Jamboree for three years, she said.  She's skating and feeling healthy, which is great:

Toni Perrone had a fall the other day, so her roommate and my Chula Vista colleague Jane Strawn is helping her get around.  You can see them both at the Immigrant Genealogical Society exhibit in the Exhibit Hall:

I love to talk to Janet Hovorka of Family ChartMasters about our families, genealogy and life.

Tonight, Linda and I had dinner with Laurie Demarais, Beverley Fieg and Elyse Doerflinger, then chatted with Jill Morelli, Mary Roddy and Elissa Powell after dinner for awhile.

Then it was up to the room to bang out this post before bed.

More on Jamboree tomorrow - I plan to take a lot more photos!  And attend several classes too.  So far, I'm 3 for 6.
