Randy's First Ancestral Home - Post 533 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

I discovered an envelope of small photographs saved when my mother died in 2002 - it was hiding in plain sight in the Genea-Cave!  The Bass Lake postcards from the last two weeks were in this envelope also.

My parents, Frederick and Betty (Carringer) Seaver, were married on 14 July 1942.  After their marriage, they worked at Rohr Aircraft in Chula Vista during World War II.  At some point, they rented a house on 577 Twin Oaks Avenue in Chula Vista.  When I was born in October 1943, this is the house that I first lived in - my first ancestral home!

Since Betty is not obviously pregnant, I think this was probably taken in early 1943.

This house looks like a new building.  The yard is without plants or trees.  There was a big building boom in Chula Vista during World War II to provide housing for Rohr employees and U.S. Navy personnel stationed in the San Diego area.

I have no memories of this house, of course, and I don't think I ever asked my mother about the circumstances of residing there.  Those memories are lost now.
