Young Randy in the Carringer Garden -- Post 538 of (Not So) Wordless Wednesday

Recently, I discovered an envelope of small photographs saved when my mother died in 2002 - it was hiding in plain sight in the Genea-Cave!

Included in the photo cache was this oldie-but-goodie - little Randy in the Carringer garden sniffing a flower:

My grandparents, Lyle and Emily Carringer, had a beautiful garden in their fenced front yard at 2115 30th Street in San Diego, along with a bird bath.  It was a wonderful place to set young Randy out to explore and learn about nature.  I loved splashing my fingers in the bird bath.  Sometimes I guess I sniffed flowers.  Perhaps my mother or grandfather encouraged me to do something cute!

Look at that sailor hat on my head!  My father was in the Navy until February 1946.  I think that I am almost two years old in this photo, which would make it perhaps the summer of 1945.
