Best of the Genea-Blogs - 30 June to 6 July 2019

Dozens of genealogy and family history bloggers write thousands of posts every week about their research, their families, and their interests. I appreciate each one of them and their efforts.

My criteria for "Best of ..." are pretty simple - I pick posts that advance knowledge about genealogy and family history, address current genealogy issues, provide personal family history, are funny or are poignant. I don't list posts destined for daily blog prompts or meme submissions (but I do include summaries of them), or my own posts.

Here are my picks for great reads from the genealogy blogs for this past week:

Finding John Costello - A DNA Journey: The Fried Family, John's Family, Part 5; and Part 6, Conclusion by Amberly Beck on The Genealogy Girl.

“Did My Ancestor Serve in the American Revolutionary War?” Research Steps to Prove a Family Legend by the writer on Legacy Tree Genealogists.

Using the "DNA Match" Tree Tag by Ann Raymont on DNAsleuth.

ThruLines No Longer in Beta by History Chick on Genealogical Musings.

'Old Green' by Jeff Record on Vita Brevis.

*  Mitochondrial DNA: Part 4 – Techniques for Doubling Your Useful Matches by Roberta J. Estes on DNAeXplained -- Genetic Genealogy.

Finding a Birth Father by Lorine McGinnis Schulze on Olive Tree Genealogy Blog.

Transcribing Genealogy Records Correctly Helps Find New Clues by Amie Bowser Tennant on The Genealogy Reporter.

Why Genealogists Ought to Love Taxes by Sam Williams on Ancestral Anamnesis.

Here are pick posts by other geneabloggers this week:

Friday's Family History Finds by Linda Stufflebean on Empty Branches on the Family Tree.

Friday Fossicking - 5th July 2019 by Crissouli on That Moment in Time.

This Week's Creme de la Creme -- July 6, 2019  by Gail Dever on Genealogy a la Carte,

Readers are encouraged to go to the blogs listed above and read their articles, and add their blogs to your Favorites, Feedly, another RSS feed, or email if you like what you read. Please make a comment to them also - all bloggers appreciate feedback on what they write.

Did I miss a great genealogy blog post? Tell me! I am currently reading posts from over 900 genealogy bloggers using Feedly, but I still miss quite a few it seems.
